Former Orlando Pirates star Tebogo Tlolane close to joining new DStv Premiership side

Former Orlando Pirates utility player Tebogo Tlolane is closing in on a deal to join a new DStv Premiership side.

The left-footer parted ways with Orlando Pirates at the end of the previous season. He spent the last campaign at the relegated side Maritzburg United.

He left the Sea Robbers after having been on their books for four years as he joined the club in July 2019 from Chippa United. However, during this period, he had three loan spells with the Team of Choice.

Two weeks ago, the 28-year-old was training with AmaZulu FC, trying his luck under coach Pablo Franco Martin. However, nothing came to fruition as the club let him go a few days later, with the Spanish coach stating that they were “full” in that position.

Now, another KZN-based side, Golden Arrows are close to capturing the former Chippa United man. According to sources known to this website, Tlolane’s signing should be completed in the coming days as the details are being finalised currently.

‘Messi’ made nine appearances in all competitions both at Pirates and Maritzburg United. This also includes the PSL Promotion Playoffs where the Midlands side suffered relegation to second-tier.

Tlolane is surely looking for more minutes at club level having done well when he represented South Africa in the COSAFA Cup in July.

The Johannesburg-born, Tlolane is one of the most versatile players in the DStv Premiership. He has been utilised as a left-back, midfielder and winger in the past.

He’d give Arrows co-coaches Vusimuzi Vilakazi and Mabhuti Khenyeza different options with Abafana Bes’thende looking for consistency in their line-up.

To bolster their team, Arrows have signed Brandon Theron, Bradley Cross, Lungelo Nguse, Nhlanhla Zwane, Angelo Van Rooi, Olwethu Ncube, Tebogo Motloung and Ismail Watenga.
