Former Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah shares view on Ghana clash against Nigeria

Former Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah has shared his view on upcoming World Cup playoff between the two powerful West African countries stating Ghana will beat Nigeria to a place in Qatar 2022.

The former boss’ view seems more of a supporter claim as Ghana host the Super Eagles in the first leg of their blockbuster clash on Friday, March 25, 2022 in Kumasi.

Appiah, who led the team to the World Cup in 2014 after thrashing Egypt in the playoff 6-1 at the same venue, is confident the Black Stars will emerge victorious.

“It is about Ghana and I will entreat all and sundry to rally behind the Black Stars against Nigeria for us to win,” he said as quoted by footballghana.com.

“It is not going to an easy game but I believe if we support the team whole heartedly, we will be victorious,” he added.

Kwesi Appiah was also the captain of the Black Stars when Ghana beat Nigeria 1-0 at the Baba Yara stadium 31 years ago, the last time the two teams met in Kumasi.

The winner of the two legged game will qualify for the World Cup in Qatar later this year.

Ghana missed the 2014 World Cup in Russia after three successive appearances between 2006 to 2014.
