GFA official warns Nigeria ahead of Baba Yara clash in World Cup playoff

Ghana FA Executive Council member Samuel Anim Addo has reacted to the decision by FIFA/CAF to approve the Baba Yara Sports Stadium for the World Cup playoff first leg between the Black Stars and Nigeria on March 25.

The Baba Yara Sports Stadium has been granted a one-match approval to host the match after the Cape Coast Sports Stadium was rejected by CAF/FIFA after inspection.

According to the Okwahu United Board chairman, the spirit in Kumasi will help the Black Stars defeat Nigeria in the World Cup playoff.

Ghana’s famous win in the World Cup playoff came off at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium when the Black Stars thrashed Egypt 6-1 in 2013.

Anim Addo has urged Ghanaians to rally behind the team and create an intimidating atmosphere at the stadium on that day.

“There has been some flexibility in the systems, and I urge every Ghanaian to come around. There is some spirit in Kumasi, and we want them to feel it when they come around to play us,” he said.

“The Nigerians know that we are better than them, they know that whatever they know about football and life, we taught them.

They claim we don’t have Asamoah Gyan, but they must know that the spirit of Gyan will be there and we will score them, the spirit of the Asanteman kingdom will be behind us, and we score them. They must feel the heat that they are coming to play in Kumasi. We will show them that we are Ghana,” he added.
