Liverpool’s Premier League title hopes will be decided on Thursday as fate lies in other 19 clubs

It has been 30 years when Liverpool last won the League title but this season has been quit exceptional for the Reds leading the EPL table with 25 points off second place Manchester City in a bid to hand Liverpool their first ever Premier League title since the 1989-90 season.

But the coronavirus pandemic could simply jeopardize Liverpool’s chances of lifting their historic Premier League title this season when the sudden outbreak of the coronavirus could force an impulse ruling for the 2019-2020 season including declaring the season as null and void.

There are many other possible reasons, but if the ruling happens this way, Liverpool can no longer be crowned Premier League champions for the first time in 30 years.

According to the Evening Standard, the Premier Chiefs could be forced by the outbreak to call the season ‘void’ and only need 14 of the 20 clubs in the Premier League to agree on the decision.

On the interim, the English top flight football has been suspended until early next month due to the global outbreak of the pneumonia-like virus. And Premier League officials will hold an emergency meeting on Thursday 19th March, 2020 to put the end of the season into immediate perspective.

Given the current state of the outbreak in the UK which has showed no sign of diminishing morbidity and fatality rates, the meeting could impregnate and give birth to ‘majority decision’ if it appears (in the meeting) this season can no longer be continued as planned.

For any majority decision to be imposed, at least 14 out of the 20 Premier League clubs (70%) have to agree on that decision or ruling. One option of a decision according to Evening Standard via the Sun would be to end the season as it stands – which is an idea that will most certainly have Liverpool’s support, and the Reds can still be crowned as champions.

Another is to host a play-off competition for Premier League clubs, and if it happens this way this EPL season will be ruled null and void.

That would mean Liverpool’s 19th Premier League title hopes and their first ever in 30-years would be terminated in the era of coronavirus outbreak.
