Kylian Mbappé: We are a different team, we can always get through it.

Kylian Mbappé (24) admitted that Paris Saint-Germain weren’t at the top of their game against Lille OSC, but added that the team can “always get through it” as a late Lionel Messi (35) free-kick gave Les Parisiens a narrow victory (4-3).

PSG began strongly. Mbappé opened the scoring before Neymar doubled the lead just minutes later. However, Les Parisiens were vulnerable defensively and were punished. Les Dogues managed to reverse the scoreline, and a Jonathan Bamba goal looked to have given Lille the win.

However, with time slipping away, Mbappé equalised with a smart finish before Messi’s well-placed free-kick in injury time handed Christophe Galtier a much-needed three points.

Going into the match, PSG had lost their last three games in all competitions, a run which has derailed their season. Once again, against Lille, PSG weren’t at their best, despite the win. “We got through it. The match wasn’t our best. We made lost of errors, had lots of lapses in concentration and against a team that plays well and has quality, that can cost you dearly,” Mbappé told Amazon Prime Video Sport post-match.

The Frenchman continued, “We showed that even when we’re not having the best day, even when the context isn’t necessarily favourable, we’re a different team, we have different players and we can always get through it.”
