Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang departure from Arsenal predicted by former Gunner Kevin Campbell

Arsenal signed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund during the 2018 winter transfer window in a deal that worth €63.75 million for the Gabonese forward.

Aubameyang, 30, has established himself as a key man for the Gunners since arriving from the BundesLiga scoring 61 goals in 97 appearances over the last two seasons.

The African striker is tipped to leave the Emirates Stadium after he has relaxed to pen a new contract- which expires at the end of next season.

Arsenal have asked Aubameyang to extent his stay with the North London club but the former Dortmund ace is yet to act as Arsenal have asked having requested to Gunners to offer him £300,000 a week before he signs a new deal.

And Arsenal former player Kevin Campbell reckons the Gabonese striker together with team-mate Alexandre Lacazette will leave the Emirates Stadium given the way things have turned in the season and at Arsenal in particular.

‘I just don’t think Arsenal are in a position to keep [Aubameyang],’ the former Gunners striker said. ‘I can’t see us being able to offer him anything like we think we could.

‘We’re not in a great position ourselves and I think he’s one of the assets we can cash in on because there are going to be other positions in the team that need addressing.

‘I don’t think it’s [the club or Aubameyang] trying to cause an impasse, I just think it’s timing. The timing is so, so wrong for Arsenal.

‘Obviously with a new manager again with Mikel Arteta, he’s come in and he’s having to think on his feet, he’s having to learn on the job.

‘He’s done some good things and obviously there are things that are going to need to be addressed.

‘But this is probably the biggest challenge for Mikel Arteta right now in his Arsenal managerial tenure and I don’t think he’s going to be able to keep Aubameyang.

‘You know what, I think Aubameyang and Lacazette are going to go. I think both of them will go. I’m a straight talker and I say it as I see it.

‘Aubameyang they can get something for, I think Lacazette, the way Arteta wants to play, doesn’t really fit the system. ‘So I think there’s going to be a lot of change.’

The 30-year-old nearly joined Barcelona in the January transfer window to replaced injured Luis Suarez at Camp Nou but Arsenal never sanctioned the move.

The Catalan club are still keeping eyes on the Arsenal striker and Aubameyang is aware of that growing reluctance to sign a new deal in order to enhance is chances of joining Barcelona at the end of the season.

That will happens when Arsenal would want to avoid a situation where the striker will turn a free agent at the end of next season, and would prefer to cash in on the Gabonese end of this season than to let him leave for free next season.
