Gunners target speaks of Premier League ambitions amid interest in Arsenal move

Arsenal target Jonathan David has spoken of his “goal” of playing in the English top flight. The 20-year-old, who has scored 18 goals for Genk in the Belgian Pro League this season, has been on the Gunners’ radar for a while.

And David’s recent comments suggest he may be open to a future move to the Emirates.“I don’t really focus on that or think much about it,” he told the Guardian.

“Right now I’m playing almost every minute of every game and that has really helped me get to the level that I need to be. I just need to take a good step where I can make sure I am getting enough time on the pitch to keep developing. I don’t want to go somewhere and just stay on the bench so it’s about taking the right step.

“I want to become one of the best strikers in the world. That’s my goal. The Premier League is the best in the world and most competitive so obviously that is somewhere I would love to play in the future.”

Arsenal can lose hit man Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Barcelona now that the Catalans are falling out to Chelsea in the race to sign Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez after Chelsea are reported to submit a bid.

Signing £17.5million rated David would be wise for Arsenal than to lose the prospect to other clubs where the 20-year-old is also monitored a host of top European clubs like London rivals Chelsea, AC Milan, Manchester United and Bayern Munich.
