Choupo-Moting joins Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich

Cameroon international, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, has joined Bundesliga giants FC Bayern Munich on a free transfer for one year.

Since leaving Hamburg back in 2011 for FSV Mainz, the German-born became somewhat of a journeyman as he went on to sign for Schalke before moving to the Premier League with Stoke City in 2017.

He then secured a shocking move to Paris Saint Germain where he stayed for two years, helping them win two Ligue 1 titles, the French Cup and the League Cup in his 51 appearances.

Choupo-Moting now secured yet another move to a European powerhouse in Bayern Munich, where he will be Robert Lewandowski’s main backup.

The 31-year-old will remain at the club until June 30, 2021, and will sign for The Bavarians alongside Juventus winger Douglas Costa.

“It’s a great feeling coming back to the Bundesliga – and then to the biggest club in Germany.

Who wouldn’t want to play for FC Bayern? It’s an honour to play for this club. It’s always Bayern’s aspiration to win everything, and I’m hugely motivated to help them achieve those goals.” He told the official Bayern Munich website.

Choupo-Moting’s first appearance could come immediately after the international break when Bayern visit 1.FC Düren in the first round of the DFB-Pokal.
