South Africa held to 1-1 draw by Namibia in homeland

South Africa got their preparations for qualifying round of 2022 AFCON on a winless note after being held to a 1-1 draw by Namibia last Thursday.

Molefi Ntseki’s side saw AFCON qualifier double header against Sao Tome & Principe in March cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. Like many other African countries, the Bafana Bafana have not engaged in football since their win over Sudan in November 2019.

However, with national team football in Africa making a remarkable return after eight months of sideline, South Africa welcomed Namibia to the Royal Bafokeng Stadium as Ntseki’s men prepare for AFCON qualifiers next month.

South Africa took an early lead but saw their lead canceled out by limbondi’s second half strike as the game ended 1-1 at the Bakefong Stadium.

South Africa will play Zambia on Sunday afternoon before heading to Sao Tome game.
