Club legend Sherif Ekramy departs Al Ahly amid move to Pyramids

Sherif Ekramy will leave Cairo based side Al Ahly after at the end of this season club confirming the departure of the veteran shot-stopper.

Ekramy was first identified with Ahly in 2003 before move away and coming back later in 2010. The experienced goalkeeper has been among Ahly’s legends, keeping the posts 151 times in the Egyptian Premier League for the North African giants since 2010.

Ekramy presence together with Ahmed Fathi and Hossam Ashour in Al Ahly colours has landed the Eight-time CAF Champions League record holders 73 major titles, with 34-year-old Ashour, an academy graduate, contributing 36 of those triumphs.

The long-serving’s exit is the third time this season so far the Reds are parting ways with a club legend having already announced Ashour and Fathi’s exit for the end of this season.

Meanwhile, Ashour is the most decorated player in Ahly history. Fathi and Ekramy who has been displaced in the first-team by Mohamed El Shenaway are on the verge of completing a move to Pyramids for the 2020/21 campaign.

At International career, In May 2018 he was named in Egypt’s preliminary squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
