CAS set hearing date for Kaizer Chiefs appeal over transfer ban from Andria Andrianamimanana signing

The Court of Arbitration for Sport has provided update on Kaizer Chiefs’s pending appeal on handed transfer ban by FIFA for the signing of Andriamirado Aro Hasina Andrianamimanana in 2018.

The South African side has already been handed a two transfer window ban from the world football governing body for signing Andrianamimanana almost two years ago.

The PSL giants were charged for breach of Andrianamimanana’s contract at Fosa Juniors- that was supposed to run from 1 November 2016 to 31 October 2020”, but Chiefs signed the midfielder in August 2018 without paying a transfer fee to the parent club.

The Madagascar side later lodged a dispute with FIFA, seeking compensation of “EUR 150,000 plus 5% interest”, and the ruling later went against Chiefs, who were asked to pay the compensation and sanctioned to a two-window transfer ban in February this year.

The Glamour Boys reiterated with appeal to CAS, and now the appeal body has set a hearing date on 9 September 2020, while a backlog of cases is currently being attended to due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The club will in the meantime need to serve their ban until CAS hearing on September, and if successful, will be able to resume their transfer business in the next transfer window.
