Bidvest Wits manager, Gavin Hunt, has denied all allegation from Tala’a El-Geish striker Amr Gamal that he’s a racist and took the opportunity to criticize his personality and work rate.

Gamal, who played for South Africa’s Bidvest Wits between for the first part of the 2017-2018 season, recently accused Hunt of being a racist.

Despite a promising start with The Clever Boys helping them lift the Telkom Knockout trophy, the 28-year-old saw his role at the club diminish with time. According to the player, this was because an altercation he had with his former manager.

However, Hunt went on to debunk all of these allegations claiming that he never got into a fight with the Egypt international.

“I don’t know what he’s talking. I’ve never heard of Rubin Kazan, and how could I be racist towards him? I mean, that’s a disgrace man,” Hunt told KickOff.com.

“Is it that he’s Muslim and I’m Christian? I mean, please. I don’t know if he’s referring to me, because I never had an altercation with him.

“Maybe he’s saying the manager – Jose [Ferreira, former Wits CEO], but that’s not me. I don’t decide on his moves, I knew nothing about Kazan man, that’s office business,” he added.

The former SuperSport United coach then went on to explain why Gamal didn’t get much playing time by the end of his loan spell.

“All that rubbish about not playing in the World Cup, how can I decide that? It’s got nothing to do with me, it’s complete nonsense. He’s talking about top scorer, with what? Three goals in 20 games?

“We paid him for that. He was staying in Melrose Arch [a residential development in Johannesburg] – geewiz, you should have seen how he trashed the place, we had to pay two months’ rent to fix it up after he left.

“His claims are nonsense. I certainly had nothing to do with it. He was walking and standing around here on the pitch, doing nothing, and that’s why he didn’t play. I had no altercations, and racist? That’s out of line, what a joke,” he concluded.

Since leaving South Africa, Gamal signed for Finnish side HJK Helsinki where he stayed for the remainder of the season.

He then returned to his boyhood club Al Ahly where he failed to make a single appearance during the 2017-2018 season, before joining Tala’a El-Geish where currently plies his trade.
