Al Ahly midfielder Amr El Solia has emphasized the team’s determination and readiness ahead of the crucial second leg in the 2022/23 CAF Champions League final against Wydad Casablanca.
After securing a narrow 2-1 victory in the first leg played in Cairo, Al Ahly need only to avoid losing to reclaim the prestigious title from their Moroccan rivals.
Speaking after Friday evening’s open training session in Casablanca, El Solia expressed the team’s focused mindset and their goal of returning to Cairo with the trophy.
Acknowledging the challenge they face, playing at the same ground where they lost the crown last season, El Solia affirmed the players’ awareness of their responsibilities and their unwavering determination to succeed.
“We are working tirelessly to achieve a positive result in the second leg in Casablanca. All players are fully aware of the responsibility that lies ahead of us. Our goal is to return to Cairo with the trophy,” stated El Solia.
Facing Wydad Casablanca, the defending champions, especially when playing at home with their passionate fans, El Solia emphasized the importance of maintaining composure throughout the match.
He recognized the strength of the opposition but expressed confidence in Al Ahly’s ability to overcome the challenges they will face.
“We will face a big team in front of a respectable crowd, and we are here to ensure we keep our cool and finish the job,” added El Solia.
