BREAKING: Manchester United set to complete £70million deal for Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez

Manchester United are close to signing Saul Niguez from Atletico Madrid according to reports from Spain.

The Premier League club were reportedly monitoring Saul Niguez before football’s break from the coronavirus pandemic occurred.

It’s understood United now want to lure the player away from Wanda Metropolitano, and have reached agreement with the Laliga outfits ahead of a summer transfer to Old Trafford.

Diego Simeone was believed to keep hold onto senior members in the squad, however, with the pandemic causing financial problems for the club, Atletico have now decided to sell some of its prize assets.

Niguez has appeared one of those who have the exit doors opened after Manchester United coming in for his services.

The 25-year old Spaniard has a release clause of £132million that has prevented suitors from signing the midfielder.

However, it was reported by the Sun that the Premier League side are closer than ever in securing the signature of Niguez.

Latest reports from Spain on Sunday have added to the Sun’s claim as Manchester United have eventually had the breakthrough in signing one of the best midfielder in Europe.

It has been revealed by Todo Fichajes in Spain via Evening Standard that the global pandemic has forced Atletico Madrid to halved Niguez’s release clause of £132million, and the Spanish giants have agreed a £70million deal with Manchester United for the player.

The 25-year old has been consistent for Atletico Madrid over the past three seasons, helping Atletico Madrid to reach the Champions League final in 2016.
