Liverpool agree deal with Bayern Munich star Thiago Alcantara as Klopp orders midfielder signing

According German publication Bild, Liverpool emerge closer to completing the signing of Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich after agreeing a deal with the midfielder.

Alcantara has been key to the Bundesliga outfits this season, helping Bayern Munich to lift this season’s Bundesliga title for a 30th time in their history.

Despite Bayern’s success in Germany, they are been tempted to do a massive overhauling in their squad due to over-aging that would see the likes of David Alaba (28), Javi Martinez (31), Jerome Boateng (31) and Thiago Alcantara (29) find new life outside the Allianz Arena next season.

However for the latest, Alcantara, he has been offered an opportunity at Anfield to show off what football is still left in him after Jurgen Klopp been a huge admirer of the Spaniard.

The 29-year old deep-lying playmaker is  heavily linked with a move to Liverpool since restart of football in Europe and now appears closer to lining up with the European champions according to latest reports in German.

The Bild reports that Liverpool have agreed a deal with Alcantara including his personal terms ahead of a summer move to the Premier League.

The German source further claimed that Klopp who has much influence on Liverpool transfers has approved the deal and have asked the Reds board to reach a deal with Bayern Munich as soon as possible.

That may be due to Klopp’s awareness of interest from Inter Milan, Chelsea, Tottenham and Atletico Madrid who are all looking for midfield reinforcement in the summer transfer window, and knee exploiting the opportunity to sign Alcantara.

Though as believed Liverpool would sign few players to strengthen especially their midfield department, the Reds have been extensively slow in the transfer market, losing one of best strikers in the Bundesliga and a top transfer target Timo Werner to Premier League rivals Chelsea after the West London confirmed a £53million deal for the former RB Leipzig centre forward June 2020.

The Reds’ results after restart of the season- winless in the last two games including defeat to Arsenal in what was a comeback for the North London side prompts Liverpool that the huge gap they opened off against competitors in the first half of the season is gradually diminishing as the season finally approaches closure and may need reinforcements for next season.

And Klopp has asked Liverpool to complete a deal for the Spanish midfielder in a lesser fee than Bayern’s asking price.

Bayern have ordered Liverpool to sign their midfielder for €40million but the Premier League outfits are willing to pay €25million.
