Manchester United tell Harry Kane to force Tottenham exit with transfer request

Manchester United have told Harry Kane to force an exit from Tottenham this summer following reports he still wants a summer move to Old Trafford.

Kane ‘hopes’ that United will resurrect their interest and launch a bid for him despite Spurs’ hard stance over his future.

It was thought that United had ended their interest in signing Kane despite Erik ten Hag’s ‘obsession’ to bring him to Old Trafford as the Red Devils felt he was too expensive and were unwilling to pay the £100m price tag Spurs put on him.

But following news that Kane is still keen on joining United, the club have told the England captain to push again for a move to Manchester if he wants it to happen, according to The Sun.

They claim United want Kane to either put in an official transfer request or publish a strongly worded statement expressing his desire to join Ten Hag’s team.

United do not want to pay £100m for Kane due to the fact that he will soon turn 30 and is out of contract next summer but £80m would tempt them back to the negotiating table as they look to recruit a new striker.

Daniel Levy is determined to keep Kane in north London – with hope he will still sign a new deal in the coming 12 months – and the Tottenham chairman does not want to sell him to a direct rival.

Kane has scored 280 goals and provided 64 assists across 435 games for Tottenham but is believed to be keen for a fresh challenge.

He was linked to Real Madrid but Kane is thought to want to remain in England as he looks to overtake Alan Shearer and become the all-time Premier League top scorer.

Shearer leads the way with 260 goals while Kane is currently 47 behind him on 213.
