Man Utd in talks to sign €80m Italy star who sees Old Trafford as ideal destination
Manchester United are in talks to sign Italy international Nicolo Barella this summer, according to reports.
Barella has established himself as a key player in the Inter Milan team that finished as Champions League runners-up last term.
The 26-year-old midfielder, who has 45 caps for Italy, joined Inter in 2020 and registered six goals and seven assists across 35 Serie A games last season.
Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport now report that United have held phone calls over a possible move for Barella.
They claim that Barella sees Old Trafford as an ideal destination and that he would cost United around €80m plus add-ons.
Barella has won Serie A and lifted two Coppa Italia trophies during his time at Inter.
United are also in the race to sign West Ham midfielder Declan Rice, although Arsenal are the front-runners and Manchester City have been linked too.
Meanwhile, Chelsea star Mason Mount fears he could be priced out of a move to United this summer.
Erik ten Hag is set to overhaul his midfield with Fred linked with a transfer to Fulham.
The Dutchman is also keen to offload Scott McTominay, who has attracted interest from two Premier League clubs.
