Chelsea beating Inter Milan to the signing of Dries Mertens as Frank Lampard CALLS Napoli ace almost everyday
Chelsea have identified Napolis striker Dries Mertens as a perfect man to bang in the goals at Stamford Bridge.
There is what happens to be advantage in Chelsea’s pursuit of Mertens after the Belgian has failed to reach a contract extension with Napoli as current contract runs out ending of this season.
Napoli opened negotiations to get the striker extend his stay in Naples, however, talks have stalled and things remains unclear or even difficult for the striker to accept a new deal at the parent club.
With Frank Lampard being aware of Mertens current situation, the Chelsea boss has now open talks with the Belgian’s agents to signing him this summer.
The Chelsea manager is believed to be in regular contact with Mertens’ agent over the past few days now.
And Italian football expert Gianluca Di Marzio has fueled speculations of the Napoli striker’s transfer to Chelsea.
When asked Gianluca Di Marzio about Chelsea’s pursuit of Dries, the football expert said “The deal with Napoli is in a difficult way and I know Chelsea want him again.”
“They are talking to his representatives, Frank Lampard has spoken to the player and they are pushing forward to convince Mertens to accept their offer.”
Inter Milan have also prime the signing of the Belgian forward when the summer transfer window opens.
However, a transfer intermediary Vincenzo Morabito claims Chelsea look favorite to land Mertens as boss Lampard calls the player almost every day.
“Chelsea have extended Giroud’s contract but they are very interested in Mertens and Lampard is calling him almost every day. I can see Mertens going to Chelsea,” he remarked during an interview with Italian radion station Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli earlier on today Tuesday.
