Man Utd planning summer move for Chelsea target Sergio Reguilon

Manchester United are planning to make a summer move for Sevilla left-back Sergio Reguilon. That’s according to Sports Insider, and Chelsea’s success in Chilwell’s transfer will place the Old Trafford club in a good position to sign the Spaniard.

The Real Madrid on-loan-player-at-Sevilla has simply impressed under former Santiago Bernabeu boss Julen Lopetegui this term, and caused a major interest from Chelsea before the West Londons turn attention to priority target Ben Chilwell.

The Blues have secured £50million signing of Chilwell from Leicester City this week and this puts Reguilon up in the air as alternative for clubs who sought prising Chilwell away from the King Power Stadium. Premier League rivals Manchester United was one of the clubs confident of landing the 23 year old.

According to The Sun, the Leicester left-back’s move to Stamford Bridge will pave way for United to land Reguilon who Ole’s side monitored closely when they met Sevilla in the Europa League semi-finals.

The Sun reports that Ole Gunnar Solskjær is ready to give Luke Shaw competition in the upcoming season despite Brandon Williams eventually warming himself as a good competitor at the left-back and could even take the position regularly next term.

It’s understood that Reguilon may not be part of Zidane’s plans when the 2020/2021 Laliga season start and Madrid are ready to exchange him for €20-25million.

And United will afford to sign the Spaniard for that amount as they have spend less in the transfer market after reserving much fund from, as it stands now, failure to embark on Jadon Sancho and Jack Grealish deals.

Although Sevilla, who Reguilon,23, won this season’s Europa League with after beating Inter Milan, can afford Madrid’s asking price for the defender too but United is understood to be in best position for Reguilon’s signature.

That’s because the the 23 year old lateral is interested in a move to the Premier League, thus “starting from the time he was heavily linked with Chelsea though he still have Real Madrid and Barcelona in mind, and with Barca, it’s because of his (Reguilon) style of play”.

Meanwhile, Antonio Conte’s Inter, Tottenham and Borussia Dortmund are also interested in securing a move for the Real Madrid defender.
