Match Report- Asante Kotoko 1-1 Liberty Ghana Premier League 2019-2020

Kumasi Asante Kotoko hosted Liberty Professional at the Baba Yara Stadium for week seven of the 2019-2020 Ghana Premier League.

Kotoko headed into the game with high confidence after claiming the highest bragging rights on the local football calendar against Hearts of Oak last week whilst Liberty picked a crucial 2-1 away win against WAFA.

None of the teams were able to break the deadlock in the first half but Liberty Professional got the better of the Porcupine Warriors 11 minutes into restart when Tamimu Muntari from the right edge of the box directed a powerful drive to bottom left corner.

Kotoko then after made several attempts to find the back of the net but lacked the perfect communication to break through for the equalizer.

Despite Kotoko pushing for the leveler, all the best chances in the second half fell the way of Liberty Professionals but Kotoko goal-keeper Kwame Baah stood to deny the visitors their second goal on the afternoon, saving two one-on-one situations to keep Kotoko hopes alive.

Few minutes after the latest one-on-one save, Kotoko drew on level when sub William Opoku Mensah reacted the quickest over Liberty keeper Shaibu Ganiyu to head home after Mensah had been sent through one-on-one at goal.

After it all at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, it was Kotoko 1-1 Liberty, thanks to Tamimu Muntari who put Liberty ahead just 11 minutes into the second half before William Opoku Mensah who replaced Naby Kieta in the second half leveled for Kotoko.
