WAFA 0-0 Asante Kotoko, as it happened, 2019-2020 Ghana Premier League Week 8

Asante Kotoko traveled to Sogakope to face West African Football Academy (WAFA) at the Red Bull Arena for week 8 of the Ghana Premier League.

WAFA, the home side stole a 1-0 away victory against Great Olympic at the Accra Sports Stadium last Sunday whilst Kotoko shared the spoils at home with Liberty Professionals, and both clubs contested to pick all three points at Sogakope on Wednesday afternoon.

Kotoko dominated the first half, combined their passes nicely from start to the end of the first half, only failed to open the defense of WAFA.

On the other hand, the home side were denied to organize their passes on the pitch but they still showed glimpses of a good team, forcing Kwame Baah to make some good saves before the end of the first half.

WAFA started the second half more determined and direct that saw Forson Amankaw shot wide over the cross-bar. The home side overturned Kotoko’s dominance to their side right after restart but failed to find the back of the net despite creating decent chances to have scored.

In stoppage time, both clubs could have got the opener as on the side of Kotoko, forward William Opoku Mensah strike was save by WAFA keeper.

Before at the receiving end, WAFA man Agyekum shot from inside the box went straight over the cross bar on the 90+2 minute.

After 90’ minutes, both WAFA and Asante Kotoko shared the spoils in a goalless draw fashion at the Red Bull Arena.
