ASANTE KOTOKO supporter allegedly shot by Police Personnel after Berekum Chelsea defeat but responding to treatment

A Kotoko fan is now battling for his life after he was allegedly hit by a stray ‘rubber’ bullet from Police personnel deployed to ensure security when Kotoko welcomed Berekum Chelsea to Kumasi Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The game took an unfortunate turn when Kotoko supporters allegedly threw projectiles on the field during their shock 1-0 defeat to Berekum Chelsea, halting the Premier League match for several minutes on Sunday.

The angry supporters of the Porcupine Warriors were furious over decisions of the referee in their match against the visiting team which led to some throwing stones and sachet water directed at the match officials.

Considerable supporters also tried to force one of the gates in order to get access to the pitch before security officials intervened to halt the action which could have spiraled out of control in the match.

Calm appeared to have been restored and the game continued until the end.
However, outside the stadium after the game, the disturbances continued.

Footages that have sparked across various media sources show a man clad in a Kotoko replica jersey, in a pool of blood with onlookers shouting that he (the victim) had been shot by a police officer.

The man was then seen being carried into an ambulance and conveyed to a nearby hospital.

It cannot be confirm what occasioned the shooting or what resulted in the wound. Latest reports indicate that the supporter is responding to treatment at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).
