Berekum Chelsea continue away magic as Kofi Owusu struck early in the second half to hand Ash Gold first defeat in Ghana Premier League

Berekum Chelsea are giant killers in this year’s Ghana Premier League, and they have done that in style, beating the likes of Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko and today Ash Gold all in their home grounds.

The later, Ash Gold welcomed the 2012 CAF Champions League campaigners Berekum Chelsea to the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium, in view to get back to winning ways after the Miners held Legon Cities FC to a goalless draw at the Accra Sports Stadium last Wednesday.

However, the away side, Berekum Chelsea who headed into today’s game with high confidence from their unbeaten run to the start of the Ghana Premier League run away from Obuasi with all three points after selling a very resilient display to hand Ash Gold their first defeat of the season.

The first half had ended in a goalless draw following a balanced display between the two top sides.

However, Kofi Owusu struck early in the second half to see his effort hand defeat to the Miners, and defeat for a second time in a row against two big clubs in the Ashanti Regions having scored against Kotoko last Sunday and Ash Gold today.

Chelsea have moved to the top of the Ghana Premier League table with 13 points but will have to wait the results of Medeama SC who travel to face Dreams FC at the Theatre of Dreams tomorrow.

Chelsea beat Hearts 1-0 in Accra, repeated the same results against Asante Kotoko last week at Baba Yara before seeing off Ash Gold at Obuasi Len Clay today.

They remain unbeaten after Match Day 5 of the Premier League.
