Former Asante Kotoko flop Stephen Amankona confirms transfer talk with Hearts of Oak

Former Asante Kotoko forward Stephen Amankona,23, reveals talks with Hearts of Oak over a potential move this summer.

Former Asante Kotoko flop Stephen Amankona has confirmed his potential move to Hearts of Oak after talks over a deal this summer has already began.

Amankona has become one of the players Hearts of Oak are tracking in reinforcement exercise that is expected to make them Ghana Premier League title contenders next season.

The 2023-2024 season will begin on September 15 which means teams have almost two months for their first games. Hearts of Oak have been linked with a couple of players who suit them heading into a new campaign.

It’s understood that Hearts have been in discussions with Amankona over a potential move and the player has set his eyes on the move to Kotoko rivals.

Amankona has confirmed Hearts interest in him in an interview with Ghanasportspage. Former Asante Kotoko right-back Samuel Inkoom has reportedly be a Hearts insider to persuade Amankona to the Accra Sports Stadium.

“Yes, some of their (Hearts of Oak) leaders, including Samuel Inkoom, have held talks with me,” Amankona told Ghanasportspage.

“Accra Hearts of Oak is a big club, and I’m ready. The most important thing is the deal. If the deal is good, I will join them.”

Amankona, 23, joined Asante Kotoko last two seasons but failed to command a starting position forcing him to leave Kotoko to join former side Berekum Chelsea January last term.

Amankona rediscovered his form and helped Berekum Chelsea to a 7th place finish on the Ghana Premier League table. Stephen Amankona netted 10 goals in 28 matches in his first spell at Berekum Chelsea, and helped them reach the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

According to Kickgh Hearts of Oak are ready to submit official bid to Berekum Chelsea in coming days. Chelesea is said willing to sell Amankona to Hearts.
