Al Ahly and Zamalek begins negotiations with Al Hilal defender Athar Eltahir ahead of summer transfer
According Ahmed Othman, agent for Athar Eltahir, Egyptian Premier League duo Al Ahly and Zamalek have open negotiations with the right-back ahead of a potential transfer at the end of the season.
Athar Eltahir enters into the last six months of his current contract, which according to FIFA standard, a player is free to open fresh negotiations of any club of his choice, and the Al Hilal defender have capitalized on that to welcome talks proposed by Ahly and Zamalek over a possible move to Egypt in the summer transfer window.
Eltahir, 23, is yet to open contract renewal talks with parent club Al Hilal Omdurman, and knee making a move to Egypt to accomplish his ever dream in playing the Egyptian Premier League.
Reports in Egypt claim that the two CAIRO giants knee signing the right-back to replace on the part of Zamalek Tunisia international Hamdi Nagguez who the CAF Super Cup champions have struggled to replace since terminating his contract back in December 2019 due to unpaid wages.
And Ahly knee snapping up energetic Eltahir to replace departing veteran Ahmed Fathi who announced his departure from the Reds this afternoon.
“Both clubs [Al Ahly and Zamalek] have verbally negotiated to acquire the services of Athar Eltahir, but there are no official offers yet,” agent Othman told Al-Nahar.
“His [Eltahir’s] contract runs until the end of the season and he has the right to sign for any club he wants without Al Hilal’s approval.”
The 23-year-old broke into Hilal first team in 2015 and he has demonstrated eye catching performance during his five period stay with the Sudanese giants.
Rene Weiler is believed to be a fond of Eltahir who can also play in midfield and attack, and the manager became much aware of his qualities when Ahly met the Sudanese side in the CAF Champions League stage at Cairo International stadium where Eltahir found back of the net against Ahly in their 2-1 victory over Hilal.
Thanks to Hussein El Shadat 15′ minute strike and Ramadan Sobhi’s 37′ minute penalty sent Weiler’s side 2-0 up before their transfer target pull one back for the Sudan giants.
He made 8 appearances, 2 goals and an assist in the suspended 2019-2020 Total CAF Champions League as Ahly prepares to face Wydad Athletic Club in Casablanca for the semifinals first leg.
