Aduana Stars stun Tamale City to extend lead narrowly on Ghana Premier League

Aduana Stars made their home advantage count after stunning Tamale City in matchday 25 of the Ghana Premier League on Sunday.

A five horse race sees Aduana Stars lead Bechem United and Medeama SC a point, leads Hearts of Oak 2 points and 5th place Accra Lions 3 points as the Dormaa side sees the lead largely seized over weeks.

In some weeks ago, it was a contest between Aduana Stars and Asante Kotoko with the leaders having led by 5 points. But the likes of Bechem United, Medeama and Hearts of Oak have fought to close the gap on Aduana Stars.

There was a doubt coming into clash with Tamale City but the leaders inflicted a 1-0 win over Tamale City to return to winning ways.

Despite creating numerous goal scoring opportunities, both teams were unable to find the back of the net in the first half at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park in Dormaa.

The much-anticipated game seems to have ended in a goalless draw but Aduana Stars proved their worth and grabbed the match-winner in the dyeing embers of the game.

Isaac Mintah struck late to hand the Dormaa-based club the three maximum points to put their Ghana Premier League title challenge on course.

His goal ensured Aduana Stars are back to winning ways after sharing the spoils with Berekum Chelsea in mid-week.

Aduana Stars remains at the summit of the Ghana Premier League with 44 points whiles Tamale City drops to the relegation drop after 25 matches. They sit 16th on the league standings with 28 points.
