Siphelele Luthuli struck late to deny Orlando Pirates three points in ABSA Premiership tie against Bloemfontein Celtic

Orlando Pirates failed to pick all three points against Bloefontein Celtic despite keeping a 14th minute lead for most minutes of the game.

Pirate ended last year with a 3-1 win over Black Leopards but Siphelele Luthuli stoppage time strike means Buccaneers begin the New Year with a 1-1 draw against Bloemfontein Celtic at Dr Molemela Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Returning Thembinkosi Lorch was missing for Pirates this afternoon, however, Linda Mntambo and Kabelo Dlamini made ways for Fortune Makaringe and Justin Shonga in what is Pirates two changes from the side that defeated Leopards the last time.

Pirates got the better of Celtic as Gabadinho Mhango got behind Sifiso Ngobeni to tap underneath Jackson Mabokgwane from a tight angle to put Pirates 1-0 ahead 14’ minutes to the start.

Orlando Pirates looked to be heading home with the 1-0 victory over Celtic but Siphelele Luthuli stepped out to inflict a roller coast on Pirates, grabbing the equalizer 9 minutes to full time.

Pirate are 5th on the ABSA Premiership table with 21 points, but remains the second highest scoring team with 23 goals after the highest Kaizer Chiefs who have registered 29 goals this season so far.
