This official release suggests that the GFA have cancelled out it’s broadcasting rights agreement with Chinese pay TV firm StarTimes. In 2016, StarTimes signed a groundbreaking deal with the GFA to hold the media rights telecast Ghana Premier League, the Gala, the National Division One League, the MTN FA Cup, the Ghana Women’s League and the Ghana Juvenile League for the next 10 years.

The Chinese pay TV firm however failed to telecast the 2019 Normalization Committee Special Competition, where the rights of telecast was issued to GTV. It’s unclear without the the GFA-StarTimes broadcasting rights has been cancelled permanently or was abrogate just under the GFA Normalization Committee.

However, GFA’s latest release, “The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is inviting bids from media organisations for the television broadcast rights for the following competitions”. “Bidders are allowed to bid for all the marketing assets listed above or any combination of the assets.” generate sense of many interpretations, which one points out to StarTimes broadcasting rights from GFA has been terminated.
