Al Ahly end chase for Nigerian striker Blessing Eleke as Rene Weiler calls “The topic of Eleke is done.”

African side Al Ahly have put an end to their long interest and chase for Nigerian striker Blessing Eleke after it appears that the Egyptians are worried about Eleke’s recent poor form at FC Luzern.

It appeared last month that the Reds are monitoring Eleke, and Weiler who under the Nigerian enjoyed one of his best seasons at FC Luzern last season was desperate to bring the player to the Al Ahly Stadium this transfer window.

Last season, Eleke found his name 11 times on the score sheet with three further assists in 23 games across all competitions.

Eleke has struggled to replicate the same form for FC Luzern this season scoring only three goals in 21 games.

Ahly are now worried about his current form, and the Cairo based are reported to end Eleke pursuit, according to Swiss newspaper Luzerner Zeitung.

Ahly boss, Weiler, is now forced to look elsewhere for options available as he confirmed to the Swiss publication that Ahly have stopped the chase for the Nigerian forward, simply describing the situations as “The topic of Eleke is done.”

Eleke will now try to impress newly appointed manager Fabio Celestini and fight for a place in the starting line-up as he is now set to staying put.
