Sudanese FA in talks with Akwesi Appiah amid appointing the former Black Stars coach as next manager to replace Zdravko Logarusic

The Sudanese FA have been in the market hunting for Zdravko Logarusic replacement after parting ways with the Serbian early December last year.

A statement by the Sudan FA reads;“Zdravko Logarusic We announce today that the decision has been taken to part company with our National Team head coach Zdravko Logarusic. Our most sincere thanks go to Zdravko. We wish him nothing but future success”

Earlier today, former Black Stars boss Akwesi Appiah was linked to replace Logarusic at Sudan but the Ghanaian later the day confirmed Sudan’s interest in him.

“We started talks yesterday Sunday and is true, but these are preliminary talks.”

“We are talking so we will see what happens”, he told Ghanasoccernet.

This may appear good news for Akwesi Appiah who saw his contract with the GFA expired the last day of 2019 and left Black Stars just four days ago.

Sooner than expected, he now emerges as possible candidate to assume a new role at Sudan, Black Stars’ Group C opponents in the 2021 AFCON Qualifiers.

Despite guiding Ghana to a somehow poor campaign in 2019 AFCON in Egypt, the former player has manufactured magic to fire the Stars to the submit of Group C of 2021 AFCON Qualifiers, maintaining a hundred percent record from the first  two qualifying games.

His appointment in the Northern land could boost Sudan’s chances of qualifying out of group C to next year’s African Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

Logarusic meanwhile witnessed a mixed results during his spell at Sudan, first leading Sudan home based players to a Bronze medal in the 2018 CHAN tournament in Morocco after their 4-2 triumph over Libya in third-four place.

He later white-washed Sao Tome and Principe in emphatic 4-0 win at home in the first games of the AFCON Qualifiers before suffering a 1-0 away defeat to South Africa in October last year.
