Morocco win African Nations Championship second time in a row after beating Mali in final

Morocco have clinched a second in a row Africa Nations Championship title after seeing off Mali in the final in Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaoundé.

The North Africans climbed a huge quarter and semifinals mountains after beating Zambia and Cameroon respectively to make a final tie against Mali.

Soufiane Bouftini and Ayoub El Kaabi strikes in the second half of the game were enough to end Morocco 2-0 victors in Sunday evening.

With Mali also crushing out Congo and Guinea, a search for a first CHAN title was on the cards but against the defending champions would be difficult for the West Africans.

And the game went in difficult direction with 10-men Mali proving a little force for Morocco.

Though Mali had stretched Morocco to a first half goalless draw, Morocco came into the second half strongly but had wait mid way to break the deadlock before scoring the second goal when it was 11′ minutes to full time.

Today’s victory means Morocco become the first country to win the CHAN tournament back-to-back.
