ES Setif return to winning ways after beating MC Oran as league lead extended ahead of continental football

ES Setif return to league winning ways after beating MC Oran at Stade 8 Mai 1945 on Saturday afternoon. The win see Setif extend their lead to 27 points, six points above second place Olympique de Médéa who have a game in hand and will take on JSM Skikda on Sunday.

Setif had gone a previous two games without picking all three points and that was a big worry ahead of the Caf Confederation Cup game against Ghana Premier League outfit Asante Kotoko.

When getting back to winning ways, it a marguee home victory for Nabil Kouki’s side. Malick Toure and Houari Ferhani scored for Setif in the first half but Hicham Belkaoui struck in between to ensure the first half ended 2-1.

Ahmed Kendouci and Monsef Bakrar second half goals completed Setif’s 4-I big win over 8th placed MC Oran.

ES Setif take on JS Saoura on Friday but that game is likely to be cancelled in a bid to feature against Kotoko in the Caf Confederation Cup play-off two days later, Sunday in Ghana.

Meanwhile, their Ghanaian opponents sit third place in the Ghana Premier League and will play against league leaders Karela United in a top four clash Ayinase.
