EXCLUSIVE: Napoli confirm former AC Milan boss Gattuso as Ancelotti’s replacement

Ancelotti was sacked form his posts at Napoli few hours after leading his side to beat Genk 4-0 in the Champions League on Tuesday.

There were reports that Napoli knee on finding Ancelotti’s replacement immediately, and Gattuso was the most cited favorite candidate to succeed his former boss at Napoli.

As the weekend is approaching, Napoli needed someone who would guide them in their Seria A game against Parma on Saturday, and the Naples have appointed Gattuso who left AC Milan management seven months ago to replace Carlo Ancelotti at Napoli.

The former AC Milan boss, who won the Champions League under Ancelotti as a player, has used his first press conference to pay tribute to his predecessor – “He’s like a father to me. He’s always been close to me and supported me. He’s won it all and I still have a lot to prove.”

He was slightly less glowing about the position he’s left the club in, though – “It’s embarrassing to see Napoli where we currently are in the table.”
