Thomas Partey for ATL against Lokomotiv Moscow

Thomas Partey was named in Atletico Madrid’s eleven against Lokomotiv Moscow in their last Champions League group stage at Wanda Metropolitano Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The Ghanaian midfielder was lined in a two pivot midfield with Koko, whereas the right and left side of the midfield were flanked by Angel Correa and Saúl Ñíguez respectively.

Joao Felix put Atletico Madrid ahead on the 17’ minute before Alvaro Morata doubled ATL’s lead but the Spaniard saw his goal disallowed for an offside on the 26’ minute mark.

Before the Portuguese penalty conversion, Kieran Trippier had missed ATL’s first penalty on the second minute to delay the Laliga side’s lead. Felipe Augusto de Almeida Monteiro extended the scoreline 2-0 for ATL Madrid nine minutes into the second half.

Partey played 90 minutes and his side have qualified to the Champions League round of 16 with 10 points from 3 wins, a draw and two defeats in all six games.

Richmond Boakye Yiadom for Crvena Zvezda against Olympiacos

Richmond Boakye Yiadom was named on Crvena’s bench against Olympiacos in match day six of the Champions League group stages. Olympiacos inflict a 1-0 defeat to Yiadom’s side after Youssef El Arabi converted a 87’ penalty to send Olympiacos to the Europa League.

The Ghanaian forward replaced Aleksa Vukanovic on the 65’ minute but failed to found the back of the net.

Crvena Zvezda failed to make it to the round of sixteen of the Champions League, accumulating 3 points from a possible of 18. They ended up fourth in group B, 7 points below second place Tottenham but 15 points below leaders Bayern Munich.

This has seen Boakye Yiadom and his side eliminated from any of the UEFA competitions after failing to book a place in the Europa League as well, for the 2019-2020 season.
