Jeffrey Schlupp sustains hip injury and Palace unsure when the Ghanaian would return

Jeffrey Schlupp has been in fine form for Crystal Palace in the EPL so far but the Ghanaian International has been ruled out of Palace game against Brighton on Monday, and future Palace games.

Schlupp was replaced with Jairo Riedewald before the start of the second half when Crystal Palace drew 0-0 away with bottomers Watford last Saturday. The Ghanaian sustained a muscle injury in the first half of that game.

Palace medical reports indicate that Schlupp is suffering from a hip injury that will keep him out of action for quite a long time, presumably two to three months. Crystal Palace are unsure of when Schlupp will returned, according Palace’s Doctors report on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Palace boss Roy Hodgson has been struggling with the availability of two other Palace players Joel Ward and Patrick van Aanholt, and was forced to substitute the Ghanaian defender in their last EPL game against Watford.

“Those two (Schlupp and Van Aanholt) won’t be available. Joel Ward is of course not available. Certainly those players are sidelined. Unfortunately there are one or two others who might get added but I’m not willing to discuss that now”, Hodgson told Palace official site.

Focusing more on the length of time Schlupp and Van Aanholt will be out of action, Hodgson replied that; “The doctors are not very willing to put timescales on injures but it will keep him out for a period of time.

“There’s no question of him missing this game and then bouncing straight back. We’ll have to wait and see.”

Schlupp has involved in four goals for Crystal Palace, scoring two goals and registering two assists to his name in 14 Premier League appearances this season so far.
