Asante Kotoko have the best midfield trio in the Ghana Premier League- Kwame Adom Frimpong

Asante Kotoko central midfielder Kwame Adom Frimpong is arguably one of Kotoko’s best players this season but he forms an a more enviable partnership in midfield in a joint effort from Justice Blay and Mudasiru Salisu.

The three players have been described as the ‘best’ midfield combination in the Ghana Premier League this season, where most fans have compared them to Hearts of Oak’s Benjamin Afutu, Frederick Ansah Botchway and Emmanuel Nettey.

Adom Frimpong now believes his partnership with team-mates Blay and Mudasiru Salisu is the best midfield trio in the 2019-2020 football season.

The central midfielder has highlighted off the pitch discussion with each other and personnel experience as the reason behind their great understanding when the three play together for the Porcupine Warriors.

“Off the pitch we talk about ourselves, we talk to get the understanding,” he told the Kotoko media team.

“Because when I joined Kotoko Mudasiru was already playing with Justice Blay but experience taught me to study how they play their game.

“So when we talk about best trio midfielders in Ghana, it’s myself, Mudasiru and Justice Blay.”

“That is how I see it…Because against Hearts when the three of us started, we did well even though ‘Muda’ went out (due to injury).

“We understand ourselves very well, when Adom goes Muda’ stays. If Muda (Mudasiru) goes Blay stays.”

Adom Frimpong, 23, completed a permanent move to Kotoko in December 2019 after impressing in trials but struggled to find more minutes under his belt.

But the start of the Ghana Premier League has be a turning point for Frimpong walking into Maxwell Konadu’s eleven, grabbing 931 minutes in a total of 11 games for Kotoko so far.

The three midfielders were manufactures and controllers of things when Kotoko run away from the Accra Sports Stadium with a slim 2-1 victory over Hearts before Mudasiru Salisu limped off in the first half after sustaining a muscle tear in the first round of the league.
