Al Ahly held to a 1-1 draw by Entag El-Harby in Egyptian Premier League

Some-how Egyptian Premier League champions for 2019-2020 season was held to a 1-1 draw by tough Entag El-Harby at Al-Salam Stadium in Friday night football.

After comfortably widening the gap on top of the table before the coronavirus pandemic suspended the season, Ahly have not been convincing since restart of the Egyptian Premier League.

Though they beat ENPPI 2-0 in their opening game in restart era before being forced to secure at point against Entag El-Harby as they still lead the Premier League table with 18-point clear off Pyramids.

In early stage of the game against Entag El-Harby, Mahmoud Metwally denied Entag El-Harby the opener after making goal line clearance.

The Reds pushed for the opener where they were awarded a penalty on the 18th minute after review of VAR but Tunisia international Ali Maaloul failed to convert the penalty.

The home side took the lead through Ahmed Afifi on 27th minute when his strike was adjudged legitimate following VAR Consultation.

The second-half didn’t witness many occasions, with the only clear opportunity coming in the 74th minute when Afsha’s shot from inside the penalty area went wide.

Three minutes later Amr El-Solaya scored the equalizer from a powerful first time shot from outside the penalty area.

Afsha had the opportunity to gift his the Reds the win but his shot went header went wide.

Al Ahly still sit on top of the league table with 53 points, 18 ahead of second place Pyramids. Their next game will be on Monday August 17th when they host Aswan.
