Ash Gold midfielder Latif Anabila eyes dream move to Asante Kotoko

Ash Gold midfielder Abdul Latif Anabila has set his heart on joining Asante Kotoko after revealing his desire to Kumasi based Radio Station Wontumi FM.

The midfielder’s contributions to the Miners can completely not be overlooked having formed a best midfield trio with Appiah McCarthy and James Akaminko- though they failed to push the Obuasi side through to the CAF Confederation Cup group stages this season.

Anabila, 23, was named in Ghana’s squad for the 2019 WAFU tournament in Senegal and played all games for Black Stars B before Ghana left Senegal with a second place.

His performance in the tournament caught the eyes of now Kotoko boss Maxwell Konadu- who steered affairs as head coach for Ghana in the WAFU tournament.

Maxwell Konadu made Anabila one of his top most transfer targets after the Ghana trainer took over the coaching job at Kotoko after the Senegal tournament but Ash Gold decided not to negotiate for the midfielder at any price.

Kotoko had the breakthrough when the second transfer window in Ghana opened but the coronavirus outbreak affected Kotoko-Anabila transfer- having the 1983 African Champions reportedly agreed to take the midfielder for next season.

To complete the transfer will be one of the best signings for the Ghana Premier League outfits in recent decades given the versatility and International experience of Anabila.

And he (Anabila) has talked about his proposed move to Kotoko. His latest comments come as an update following Kotoko’s internal transfer ban from club’s life patron Otumfo Osei Tutu II.

Asante Kotoko is a dream club for every player in the country so will be very much excited to play for them.

“For now I’m still under contract with Ash Gold but if the two clubs come into an agreement for me to move to Asante Kotoko, I will be very happy.”

The calm midfielder also highlighted his readiness for GPL restart. “Right now our lives are very important and we have no option than to wait for the right time. We will continue to train at home to maintain our fitness but if everything is worked out and we are called back to action, we will be ever ready.”
