Patrice Carteron rejects lucrative Japanese contract amid committing future to Egyptian giants Zamalek

Patrice Carteron, now Zamalek boss has revealed on Sunday that he rejected a two-year lucrative offer to join the Japanese Super League.

The French trainer has been a revelation for the White Knights since taking the charge from Serbian tactician Milutin Sredojević back in December last year, sweeping every title Carteron has come across as Zamalek manager.

The former Raja Club Athletic boss will see his contract at Zamalek expire at the end of this season but officials of the club are yet to meet their boss for possible extension negotiations.

This should have given Carteron the edge to enter into negotiations with any club of his choice, and with an unknown club in the J1 League offering Carteron financially attractive deal, that should have made the French’s decision to quit the Cairo International Stadium an easier one.

An unknown Japanese club have submitted the Zamalek boss a ‘big offer’ but the trainer has refused to accept as he remains committed to Zamalek.

“I received a big offer from one of the Japanese clubs but I refused it. Despite my contract with Zamalek expiring at the end of the current season, I refused the offer”, Carteron told reporters.

“The Japanese offer was very financially attractive, and for two seasons. I refused the offer because I can’t leave Zamalek during the current situation, as the team is preparing for the CAF Champions League semifinals.” Carteron concluded.

Patrice Carteron days at Zamalek are getting closer as his current contract expires three month time and could be offered a new deal.

But that largely depends on how far he goes in the CAF Champions League where the Egyptian giants are hoping Carteron lift them their first Champions League title in 18 years.

He has already won Zamalek the 2020 CAF Super Cup and Egyptian Super with a huge chance of adding the Champions League title after crushing out defending champions Esperance de Tunis in the quarter-finals of the competition.

If Carteron succeed in edging past Raja Casablanca in the semifinals of the Champions League and eventually win the title that would be the French’s first title after five years guiding Dr Congo giants TP Mazembe to clinch the 2015 CAF Champions League trophy.
