Two Rangers International players Ifeanyi George and Emmanuel Ogbu killed in car accident on Sunday morning

Two Nigerian footballers, Ifeanyi George and Emmanuel Ogbu, who played for Rangers International Football Club in the Nigerian Premier League, have been killed in a car accident when they two victims were traveling to Lagos after team broke camp due to coronavirus outbreak.

Rangers broke camp due to the coronavirus outbreak, and Ifeanyi George, 26, who stay in Lagos decided to return home in order to stay safe the risk of contracting the deadly virus.

Prior to the journey, the Super Eagle striker was joined by youth player Emmanuel Ogbu and a supposed friend Eteka Gabrie who were all making the travel with Ifeanyi’s private car through the Benin-Agbor road on Sunday morning.

However, the car crushed in an accident in Abudu that suddenly led to the demise of all three people in the care on Sunday morning.

Ranger released a statement to console the bereaved families of their payers.

“The management of Rangers International FC shall, in conjunction with the families of Ifeanyi George and Emmanuel Ogbu, pay a befitting last respect to both players,” a club statement read.

“We mourn their sudden demise. It’s indeed shocking that we are talking of Ifeanyi and Emmanuel in the past tense.”

George Ifeanyi was born on 22 November 1993, played for Enimba International in 2015 before joining Enugu Rangers a year after. He is caped two twice for the Super Green Eagles of Nigeria in 2017. He has registered 5 goals in the CAF Confederation Cup for Rangers.
