Arsenal are leading candidates for Atletico Madrid winger Thomas Lemar, according to Marca

Spanish outlet Marca claim Arsenal have now emerged as leaders in the race to sign Thomas Lemar from Atletico Madrid.

Meanwhile, Lemar has struggled to settle in at Atletico Madrid after his €60million move from AS Monaco in 2018. The French international has scored just 4 goals in 69 appearances in all competitions during his 3-year period at Wanda Metropolitano

This season has been worst for the former Monaco winger, neither has he scored nor assisted any of his Atletico Madrid teammates as Diego Simeone knee offloading  him this window.

He has been linked with a move to the EPL, with the two London clubs of Chelsea and Arsenal heavily cited by many sources in Spain and England as Lemar’s next possible destination.

Chelsea have failed to open a dialogue with Atletico Madrid when it has become evident that the Blues have two key areas- left-back and a striker to address before they can turn to Lemar.

And Abraham’s latest injury situation has even cornered Chelsea to focus their attention on signing a new striker imminently instead where they are in talks with PSG and Lyon for the services of Edinson Cavani and Moussa Dembélé respectively.

This whole entanglement of situations leaves Arsenal favorites not only in theory but in reality sense, as according Spanish publication Marca, Arsenal are now the leading candidates for Thomas Lemar’s signature.

A deal for the Atletico Madrid player who has featured in 21 matches across all competitions for ATL would be struck in the winter deadline, claimed by the Marca.
