Al Hilal Omdurman beat Platinum FC in Bulawayo to hold CAF Champions League quarter-finals advantage

Sudanese side Al Hilal Omdurman beat Platinum FC 1-0 in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, to hold firm advantage in the race to qualify for the quarter-finals of the 2019-2020 CAF Champions League.

Before today’s game, Hilal was third in Group B, a point behind second place Al Ahly who have 7 points now and three points below leaders Etoile Sportive du Sahel. But the latest two meet in Cairo later today in Saturday evening.

A win was the only results that would boost the Sudanese’s chances of qualifying to the next stage of the competition and they have just done what is require of their qualification.

After quite a balance game in the first half, Hilal broke the deadlock 6 minutes to full time when Mohamed Musa Eldai go one-on-one at goal before the Hilal striker shot in between the legs of Platinum keeper Petros Mhari.

Today’s win sends Al Hilal to the top of the log with 9 points, followed by Etoile Sportive de Sahel (9 points) and Al Ahly in third place with 7 points.

Hilal will welcome Al Ahly to the Al Hilal Stadium for the last group stage game. Before that the Egyptians need to see off Etoile this evening if they want to qualify to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
