Former Asante Kotoko management member Edmund Ackah hits back at Norwegian trainer Zachariassen

There is still tension between former management member of Asante Kotoko Edmund Ackah and Kjetil Zachariassen who left Kotoko back in November 2019.

Ackah was at posts when the Ghanaian giants appointed Zachariassen from Ash Gold in July 2019 but the Norwegian’s inability achieve targets led to his sack four months ago.

The Norwegian trainer attacked the management of the Ghana Premier League side in his recent interview with Kumasi based radio station Oyerapa FM, referring the club’s management as a body who know nothing about football and only think of their ‘bellies’.

Ackah meanwhile resigned from Kotoko just some days ago and has replied his former employee, calling the former Ash Gold boss as a ‘criminal.’

“Zachariassen is a criminal. This is somebody who was trying to bring in a U-17 goalkeeper from Cote d’Ivoire to Asante Kotoko when we had the likes of Felix Annan, Kwame Baah, Danlad and Muntari Tagoe which management opposed,” Ackah told reporters.

“Same management he’s attacking today alerted him on his coaching Certificate that it was inappropriate which he didn’t know.

“This same coach tried evading tax when he’s paid and was paying school fees of some Journalists at Light FM to propagate his agenda.

“I can speak for myself and my brother Nana Kwame Dankwah, we are not working for Kotoko because of our belly, he should get that and ask the one who employed him if I and my brother are after Kotoko’s money.

“If people are in Kotoko for their stomach, then he should look elsewhere because I and Nana Kwame Dankwah don’t do that and was not there because of our stomach.”

Zachariassen’s tenure of office commenced in confident manner when Asante Kotoko eliminated Nigerian giants Kano Pillars in the preliminary stage of 2019-2020 Total CAF Champions League but was later hampered when Tunisian side Etoile Sportive du Sahel at home overturned a 2-0 loss in the second round of the Champions League.

His contract was finally terminated when less-known on the African continent San Pedro eliminated Kotoko in the play-off CAF Confederation Cup in November 2019.
