Match Report: Hearts of Oak 2-2 Ash Gold Ghana Premier League 2020/2021

Hearts of Oak and Ash Gold drew 2-2 in Tuesday night football at Accra Sports Stadium as Kwadwo Obeng Jr and Hans Kwofie grab brace each.

Hearts welcomed Ash Gold to the Accra Sports Stadium for their season’s opener but failed to collect all 3 points against the Obuasi based side, after twice failing to maintain their lead.

Phobia saw their first game of the 2020/2021 season away tie against Aduana Stars cancelled due to coronavirus concerns and needed to wait more than a week afterwards to host Ash Gold in Accra.

The Miners were also forced to an opening day 2-2 draw against Karela United at the Len Clay Stadium, thanks to Appiah McCarthy and Hans Kwofie’s strikes that cancelled out Diawisie Taylor and Samuel Ofori’s goals for Karela.

In today’s clash, Hearts took a commanding lead after Kwadwo Obeng Jr. (32’) sent the home side 1-0 up at the end of first half.

Ten minutes into restart, Hans Kwofie drew Ash Gold on level to register his second goal of the season but there was a little of surprise from Hearts of Oak as Obeng Jr. restored his side’s lead when it was only 10’ minutes to full time.

Hans Kwofie scored in stoppage time for the away side as the game ended 2-2 at the Accra Sports Stadium in Tuesday night.

Whiles Hearts of Oak will face Inter Allies in their next Ghana Premier League game, Ash Gold will host Burkina Faso giants Salitas Football Club in the Caf Confederation Cup.
