Asante Kotoko ditch Malian midfielder Mamadou Kouyate after poor performance

Asante Kotoko is reported to terminate the contract of Malian midfielder Mamadou Kouyate after joining the Kumasi based side on a three year deal in July this season.

The Ghanaian champions are making so many changes aspects of the club haven witnessed the sack of head coach Kjetil Zachariassen this month in the technical department of the Ghanaian side.

Just last week tension built between club’s veteran Jordan Opoku and the management team of Asante Kotoko following the decision of the 1983 CAF Champions League winners to axe their ever fruitful play-maker.

It was understood that more players, who out of favorite as a result of poor performance, would be shown the exit door at Baba Yara this week, and Mamadou Kouyate who was signed from Elmina Sharks has been shown the club’s exit door after just four months stay with Kotoko.

Though the exit would be an opportunity for Kouyate to join any club of his choice on one hand, the exit of the former Djoliba midfielder from Kotoko would be a disappointment not only for the Malian midfielder but to the Chiefs at Baba on the other hand, failing to register an official appearance for the Garden City club.

The decision to terminate Kouyate’s three year contract on Monday came following the Milian’s poor performance in the club where it is believed that he never impressed the technical team of the Ghanaian champions.
