UEFA Youth League: Ghanaian teenage sensation Ernest Opoku joins top scorer’s race

Ghanaian teenager Ernest Opoku has climbed to fourth in the top scorer’s ranking in the UEFA Youth League this season.

The 18-year-old who has been in fine form for the Dutch U-19 team was on target for AZ Alkmaar when they were held by Red Star Belgrade U19.

AZ Alkmaar failed to hold on to a two-goal advantage in the first half for Red Star to salvage a 2-2 draw in the end on Tuesday in final round of the Winners play-offs.

Opoku, who is tied on 8 goals with Ilyes Housni and Adrian Nino, is only behind Bilal Mazhar and Mexx Meerdink who have 9 goals each.

The Ghanaian youngster is expected to play a huge role for his outfit in the second leg tie against Red Star Belgrade in Serbia.
