Thomas Partey reveals what ATL Madrid needed to beat Juve after seeing his side fallen at Allianz Arena

Juventus in recent times have been a huge mountain for Atletico Madrid to climb whenever the two sides meet, crashing Diego Simeone’s side out of the Champions League last season, and proving to be a hell of a hurdle for ATL to climb this time round when RojiBlancos travelled to Turin Tuesday night.

Juve held Atletico Madrid to a 2-2 draw in match day one of the Champions League group stage before seeing off the Spanish giants in match 5 yesterday at the Allianz Arena.

Thanks to Paulo Dybala first half stoppage time free kick  got the job done over ATL, and Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey who has been an engine for ATL for two seasons now believes his side defeat to Juve comes against the backdrop of “lack of luck” despite playing well against Juve.

“We did a good job from the beginning, the team worked well, we lacked a bit of luck. Sometimes they are football stuff, there are times that it comes in and there are times that it doesn’t. We have to keep working,” Partey said after the game.

The 26 year old midfielder has also revealed that Atl Madrid knew their game against Juve at Turin wasn’t going to be an easy one. But haven played with winning mentality seasons in and out, they planned of stealing victory against Sarri’s men at their back yard.

“We knew it was going to be a difficult game, we left with a mentality of winning, we have never lowered our arms, the team has worked well and we are happy, I hope let the fate we need go out later,” the midfielder added.

Atletico would have to beat Lokomotiv Moscow in the last group game before they qualify to the Champions League knockouts.
