Arsenal sack Unai Emery, Freddie Ljungberg appointed to manage on the interim

Arsenal have sack manager Unai Emery on Thursday morning following the club’s poor results in recent times, winning none of Arsenal’s last seven games and his lost in the Europa League to German outfits Frankfurt at Emirates Yesterday spark tensions to sack the former Sevilla boss the next day.

Arsenal released a statement few hours ago to announce the sack of Unai Emery.

Speaking on behalf of the Arsenal board and our owners Kroenke Sports & Entertainment, Josh Kroenke said: “Our most sincere thanks go to Unai and his colleagues who were unrelenting in their efforts to get the club back to competing at the level we all expect and demand. We wish Unai and his team nothing but future success.”

“The decision has been taken due to results and performances not being at the level required. We have asked Freddie Ljungberg to take responsibility for the first team as interim head coach. We have full confidence in Freddie to take us forward.”

“The search for a new head coach is underway and we will make a further announcement when that process is complete.”

So many candidates have been proposed to replace Emery at the Emirates Stadium , with Jose Mourinho, Max Allegri and Carlo Ancelotti linked with Arsenal’s job.

According to Sky Sports News, some big Chiefs in Aresenal was well prepared to offer Jose Mourinho opportunity at the London club before the Portuguese finally found himself at Tottenham as Pochettino replacement.

Max Allegri who is currently on Sabbatical leave after a successful spell at Turin, winning five Seria A titles, four Coppa Italias and two Champions League finals was also considered for the job, however, club legend Freddie Ljungberg has been appointed to manage Arsenal on the interim basis.

Ljungberg was appointed few hours of Emery’s sack announcement. Ljungberg was part of Arsenal’s league-winning midfields in 2002 and 2004, and only became part of the first-team coaching setup in the summer, having returned to the club as under-23s coach in the summer of 2018.
