BREAKING: Investigation begins, GFA to meet Dr Kofi Amoah over missing GLO $100,000 arbitrary money

Telecommunication giants Globacom Ghana broker a 5-year deal in December to be the headline sponsors of the then 2008 Ghana Premier League. The contract was in running from 2008 to the 2013/2014 League season.

However, Glo failed to honor it part of the contract obligations leading the termination of the deal with huge debut to be paid to the Ghana Football Association.

After agreeing to pay the debut to the GFA due to arbitration, Globacom made a first payment of $500,000 to the GFA in 2018 with an agreement to pay $1m remaining balance some days later.

Glo released the remaining $1m two days ago Wednesday 27th November 2019 to the former Normalization Committee President Dr. Kofi Amoah, but it’s been alleged that $100,000 out of the $1m is “missing”, according to reports in Ghana media.

Following tension in the Sports fraternity in Ghana, the GFA revealed that only US$ 900,000 out of the US$ 1,000,000 from the arbitration settlement by Globacom Ghana was paid into their account on Wednesday.

GFA stated in their release that Dr Amoah explained that he deducted $100,000 from the amount claiming it was payments to a lawyer on the case.

Despite Dr Amoah claiming to pay for the services of a lawyer for $100,000, lawyer Thaddeus Sory who was appointed by the GFA about three years ago to negotiate the GFA’s position in the arbitration with Glo and successfully reached the agreement has allegedly not been paid, according media sources.

GFA have open investigations, and are believed to planning an emergency meeting with the former NC President over the ‘missing’ $100,000 Glo money.
