Arsenal make statement of maturity in title race after coming from 2-0 down to win at Emirates

Arsenal claimed all three points late at the Emirates Stadium against AFC Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon. But they did so coming from a 2-0 down to make a statement of maturity in their Premier League title race.

Thanks to Reiss Nelson who got the 90+7 match winner to rescue the Gunners from points loss at home.

After seeing Manchester City reduced the points gap to only 2 following victory over Newcastle United at the Etihad in early kickoff, the pressure mounted on Mikel Arteta and his charges.

And in the game they needed to winner to ease them in the run for this season’s Premier League title, Arsenal went down under a minute after Philip Billing gave the visitors the lead.

Hopes were high for Arsenal to level given their some of the past experiences but were rather left with a surprise moment just after the start of the second half after Marcos Senesi doubled Bournemouth’s lead early in the second half.

Thomas Partey reduced the deficit 5 minutes later sparking an Arsenal come-back from 2-0 down. Eight from Partey’s strike, Ben White made it 2-2 with some 20 minutes left to be done with.

And at this point, Arsenal knew they would win the tie but not as late as it took them. Reiss Nelson raised to the occasion to clinch the match winner for Arteta’s side 7 minutes of additional time.

The win sees Arsenal extend their lead to 5 points off Manchester City who are a major threat to Arsenal breaking a 19-year old league curse.
